'Y' WORDS...26 DAYS OF ALPHABETICAL RESOLUTING...

IF NOT, Y NOT????
'Y' Day...When I think of Y, I think of YOU, and God does too: "See, I have engraved YOU on the Palms of my Hands; YOUR Walls are Ever before Me. (Isaiah 49:16)

But YOU, as a word, in writing or speech, is generally frowned upon, for the very reason that YOU don't like being 'preached to', or told what to do. Most of us resent it when someone starts a sentence with YOU...To us, it's like the other person is telling us what we should be doing...And it is human nature to resent that. Like the saying goes, "When YOU'RE pointing YOUR finger at me, there's three others pointing back at YOU." YOU know what I mean?...LOL

In preparing for this post, I listened to Elvis Presley sing YOU SEND ME & YESTERDAY. He did a tremendous job on both, but I couldn't help but think that Jesus Sent me.... & YOU in His Great Commission He gave before ascending back to Heaven: Go YE into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature....And YESTERDAY, what a nostalgic song! We all have a tendency to dwell on the past, when times were less fast-paced, and perhaps a little gentler on our mind........But we (YOU) must 'Go Forward'...Today is the Tomorrow we (YOU) worried about YESTERDAY. LOL

There are a few songs with Y words that I love, like the chorus, YOU ARE MY GOD, which is so very awe-inspiring. Also, the song AT CALVARY, which starts off: YEARS I spent in vanity & pride; caring not my Lord was crucified.... and YOU ARE CROWNED WITH MANY CROWNS.....YES!

So, in 2012, I am resolving to use the more inclusive 'We' more often when communicating with others...We can do this...Don't YOU think? LOL

Genesis 3:5 ASV: "The Serpent said to the woman, 'YOU surely will not die!...For God knows that in the day YOU eat from it YOUR eyes will be opened, and YOU will be like God." Satan was speaking to Eve in the Garden of Eden. This was the 'first' temptation, for as we (YOU) know, Eve did eat of the 'one' tree God said not to, and Adam did also, allowing 'Sin'..(transgression of God's Law) to enter the world...Causing God to provide a way through His Son, and His Holy Bible to Redeem (Buy Back!) His 'Crowning Creation'...YOU & even me! Praise God!

Psalm 90:4 ASV: For a thousand YEARS in YOUR sight are like YESTERDAY when it passes by, or as a watch in the night.

Psalm 65:11 ASV: YOU have crowned the YEAR with YOUR bounty, and Your paths drip with fatness.

Matt.6:19-21 ASV: Do not store up for YOURSELVES treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. The Apostle Peter mentions those that have turned away from God, and compares them to a sow that has been WASHED... returning to her WALLOWING in the mire. (2 Peter 2:22)...Lots of 2's there & today is the 22nd of January...'W' Day in my Alphabetical Resoluting. Praying WE WILL turn to God today and WORSHIP Him on this Lord's Day, remaining steadfast all through 2012...WHERE COULD I GO BUT TO THE LORD? Other Songs of WORSHIP: WE ARE ONE IN THE SPIRIT, WE BOW DOWN, WE PRAISE THEE O GOD, WE HAVE HEARD THE JOYFUL SOUND, WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS, WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN, WHERE HE LEADS ME, WONDERFUL WORDS OF LIFE, WHITER THAN SNOW, WHEN THE ROLL IS CALLED UP YONDER...(All Teachers love this one & since I taught school for 36 years, just wondering how many Roll Calls I made...LOL, cause most of the time I just looked around the room & noticed if anyone was missing.) Today is 'X' Day in my Alphabetical Resoluting..In 2012, I'm Resolved to take Passion for serving others & the Church to an Xtreme level! Like an Xtension ladder, I want to Xtend myself & 'Rise above Xpectations....Xalting Him like I Alt (ought) to, Xercising my body & Xorcising my demons,, Xpressing myself to God & Others while Pressing on toward the mark for the Prize of the High Calling of God in Jesus Christ. (Phil. 3:14)...Giving a little Xtra that I might be Xtraordinary at something beneficial, even though my wife says, "Get yourself X-Rayed and see what people see in you!" LOL...Xpounding on a healthier lifestyle by shedding 30 pounds...

Remembering that I don't hafta be an eXSpurt, cause an EX is a 'has-been' & a Spurt is a 'drip' under pressure...LOL

Just read about a Persian king named Xerxes, who ruled Persia from 486-465. He commanded an army approaching a million in number, and once after failing to cross the Hellenesport in Greece, due to a storm & bridge failure, actually had the waters lashed by his men.. Even putting shackles on the water....Oh well, I guess we all do stupid things, but that was as ridiculous as anything I ever read...Like the guy that ran into a tree & blamed the tree! LOL...

Praying that those with X-Rated mouths will reconsider their word choices, and the Xtent of the impact on others...The English language has So Many Great.... Uplifting & Positive Words!

'U' DAY....U are the Reason He Came....

ENDEAVORING TO KEEP THE UNITY OF THE SPIRIT IN THE BOND OF PEACE...
UNTO YOU O GOD I COME....Peace be UNTO U..Just read the lyrics to the song, UNWORTHY, one verse goes: Amazed that a King would reach down to His slave-This love I cannot UNDERSTAND...UNDER HIS WINGS is another U words song that touches the heartstrings....Jesus cried over Jerusalem and said, "How often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood UNDER her wings, and ye would not!"...I read of a Firefighter that discovered the charred remains of a bird after a forest fire. Upon touching the remains, he said it brought tears of joy to his face to see three pairs of eyes staring up at him. (The mother had sacrificed her life, knowing that her brood couldn't fly, to protect them UNDER her wings.)Jesus offers this Amazing Love, and like the song, THE UNCLOUDY DAY, which tells US there will be no Clouds or Sorrow in Heaven.

Matthew 9:43 -48 gives us Jesus' word that it would be better to lose an eye, hand, or foot, than to go to Hell, where the worm dies not, and the fire is not QUENCHED.

'O' Words...26 Days Of Alphabetical Resoluting...

O WHAT A SAVIOR! OH MY!!!!!

ON this Saturday, January the 14th, 2012, I am Resolving to be an OVERCOMER, because of something I just read in Revelation 2:7...I know Jesus was speaking to the Churches of Asia, but He said, "To 'Him' that OVERCOMETH, will I give to Eat of the Tree of Life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God."...What a Promise from Jesus! Makes me want to sing, O HOW I LOVE JESUS, O WORSHIP THE KING, O WHAT A SAVIOR, O BE CAREFUL LITTLE EYES, ONE DAY, ONE DAY AT A TIME, & O HAPPY DAY...All at the same time...LOL...Talk about a 'Joyful Noise' LOL...But let's look at some OVERCOMING Scriptures that have 'O' words...

"Let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may OBTAIN Mercy, and find Grace to help in time of need." (Heb.4:16)...I know some that roll out of bed each morning, & land on their knees.... to OFFER up a prayer to God...That's great if you're able, but God looks on the heart, and is more interested in OUR 'Disposition' than OUR 'Position'...Thinking He Greatly Desires that we Trust & OBEY His ONLY Son...that was ONCE OFFERED... for my sins & yours..

"And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled Himself, and became OBEDIENT to the point of death, even the death of the cross." (Phil. 2:8)

"For there is ONE God, and ONE Mediator between God and man, the Man, Christ Jesus." 1 Tim. 2:5)

"Which of you by Worrying can add ONE Cubit to his stature? (Mat. 6:27).....(In Bible times, a Cubit was measured from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow, which was generally considered to be 17 to 22 inches) .... Don't you reckon that Jesus was saying that Worry changes nothing, but I (Jesus) can Change Everything???

"ONLY let your Conduct be Worthy of the Gospel OF Christ, so that whether I come and see you OR am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you 'Stand Fast' in ONE spirit, with ONE Mind, Striving Together for the Faith of the Gospel." (Phil. 1:27)

'N' Words...26 Days of Alphabetical Resoluting...(1-13-12)

"I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU, NOR FORSAKE YOU"....

Many are awakening this New Day to a New blanket of Snow, making everything look New...Speaking of New, I like the song, I'LL HAVE A NEW BODY...But just because our earthly body is wearing out, doesn't mean our spirits have to wear out: I love Colossians 3:10: "And have put on the NEW man, which is reNEWed in knowledge after the image of Him that created him." Other songs with 'N' words that inspire me: NEARER MY GOD TO THEE, NO NOT ONE, NEAR THE CROSS, NEAR TO THE HEART OF GOD, & NOW I BELONG TO JESUS ( I've heard that last one sung thousands of times in my life)...NEARLY always sung when a person is 'Baptized into Christ'. But, let's look at a few scriptures with 'N' words on this Fab Friday....

"Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a 'NEW' creature; old things are passed away; behold all things are become NEW.(2 Cor. 5:17)

"There is NEITHER Jew NOR Greek, there is NEITHER bond NOR free, there is NEITHER male NOR female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." (Gal. 3:28)

LOL...Suffering from eyestrain & fatigue, but as God said to MOSES when he complained that he was not eloquent: "Who has MADE your MOUTH?"...and as David said in Psalm 52: "The Man that MAKES not God his strength, shall be plucked out of the land of the living." O God, help me to get the exercise I need in 2012.... without JUMPING to Conclusions. Even if I have the truth (All the facts), help me not to JUMP over virtues like kindness & helpfulness.... to say or write something that might be considered hurtful, or JUDGMENTAL, to one of your children...And God, as much as I like JUMPING on my Rebounder, thinking my Granddaughter might like it better, as she had her 3rd Birthday Party at 'The Bounce House' in Knoxville....What a JOY to watch Ellie & her friends JUMP ! JUMP! JUMP!....Today is 'J' Day in 26 days of Alphabetical Resoluting....Let's JUMP Ahead....

Micah 6:8..."What does the Lord require of you, but to do JUSTLY, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.....JUST knowing that Jesus said in Matthew 12:37 that we will be JUSTIFIED... or condemned...by our words.

JUST knowing also, that if I'm not going to JUMP to conclusions, I desperately need to think on the six things that Paul told the Phillipians in Phillipians 4:8....Paul said to Think on whatevever things that are true, honest, JUST, pure, lovely, & of good report...

Isaiah 59:4 says,"None calleth for JUSTICE"...Remembering that my Dad was wont to say that we don't want JUSTICE, We Want Mercy, and really that's a 'No-Brainer'....JUST knowing also that God has offered us all Mercy & Grace through His Son, who said in John 12:48 NKJV..."He who rejects me, and does not receive my words, has that which JUDGES him-The Word that I have spoken will JUDGE him in the last day." JESUS also said in Matthew 23:37...O JERUSALEM, JERUSALEM, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!...Praying the same won't apply to us...May we all accept His Word & Precious Promises...

PRAYING HE COMES INTO OUR HEARTS & STEPS...

Remembering all those days when a 'week of camp' would end at CCYC, where we lived for 31 years. It was nearly always a 'time for tears', ..Those that had cried to go home the previous Sunday, could now be seen crying because they had to go home. Saddened that they would be leaving behind friends, they now felt like they had know all their lives, but 'Tears of Joy' also, for they now felt closer to God than they ever had, and were as 'INSPIRED' as they had ever been, with a Hundred 'new songs' & a Thousand 'new memories' now locked in their heart & mind....One 'Last Thing' to do before leaving the mountain: Campers & Faculty joining hands in a 'Big Circle' (Often over 100 strong), linking hands & hearts as they sang:
INTO my Heart! INTO my Heart!
Come INTO my Heart Lord Jesus...
Come IN today...
Come IN to stay....
Come INTO my Heart Lord Jesus....( The campers would then turn 'Outward & sing the song again), changing the 'IN' to 'Out', as they looked out off Baldwin Mountain,changing the 'Come' to 'Go'... signifying that they would be taking Jesus with them as they went back to their homes, and schools & world... ready to tackle any problem, or swat away any 'fiery dart' that Satan might throw at them...

Today IS 'I' Day IN 26 days of Alphabetical Resoluting...I am Resolving that I don't want to have an IDLE mind, and absolutely don't want an IDOL on my mind! lol...INSTEAD, let me be like David in Psalm 119:112; "I have INCLINED my heart to do Your statutes forever."....At least for 2012, if God allows me to live... & INHERIT eternal life with our IMMANUEL, IF not...

Jesus said in Revelation 22:16: "I, Jesus, have sent my Angel to testify unto you these things in the Churches, I Am the Root & Offspring of David, and The Bright And Morning Star."....Jesus is the Best 'I' Salve known to us mortals, and will enable all of us to Look on the 'Bright Side' of any situation.

When the disciples were frightened out of their wits, when the violent storm came on them as they were crossing the Sea of Galilee in a ship, not so much by the storm, but by Jesus, who was walking on the water toward them, and they thought Him to be a ghost..."IT IS I," Jesus said..."Be not afraid!"....Jesus calmed that storm, and isn't it true that sometimes, Jesus Calms the Storm & Sometimes, He 'Calms His Child'...& lets the Storm Rage!

Peter said IN 1 Peter 1:4: "He gives an INHERITANCE INCORRUPTIBLE & Undefiled, Reserved IN Heaven For You."

There was 'No Room IN the INN' for Jesus when He was Born, but Certainly we can 'Make Room IN our Hearts & Minds' for the One who INSPIRES Scripture ...And Us, and as Paul said in Romans 1:20, "The INVISIBLE things of God are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, so that we are without excuse.

Jesus will say to the Sheep on that day when He arrives, Blazing in His Beauty with His Angels: "I was Hungry & You Fed Me...I was Thirsty & you gave Me Drink...I was Homeless & you gave Me a Room...I was Shivering & you gave ME Clothes...I was Sick & you Stopped to Visit...I was IN Prison & you came to see Me...

Praying we are All 'IN Christ' this second Lord's Day of 2012, and 'Every Day' that God allows us to live on His Footstool. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

'H' WORDS...26 DAYS OF ALPHABETICAL RESOLUTING...

HOLY! HOLY! HOLY! LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!

Hi! Hello! Howdy! How ya doin'? Hope things are Humming right along at your House today, or should I say HOME? Sounds better doesn't it? Probably because it takes a HEAP of Loving to make a HOUSE a HOME...HOPE the HALLS of your HOME are 'Bursting with Love'! HANG with me as my HOT HEART HOVERS over 'H' words in my 26 days of Alphabetical Resoluting....In 2012, I want to be as David says the 'HART(Deer) Panteth after water...Resolving that my HEART will Pant after the Water of Life, Whose statutes are said to be 'Sweeter than HONEY...or the HONEYCOMB' (Psalm 19:1)...And as John said, "Beloved, I wish above all things, that you might prosper, and be in HEALTH, even as your soul prospers." (3 John 2)

In the shadow of HIS HAND HE HAS concealed me; and HAS also made me a 'Select Arrow'. HE HAS HIDDEN me in HIS Quiver. (Isaiah 49:2 NASB)...My times are in HIS HAND. (Psalm 31:15)...When I was a kid, growing up at HARMAN, Virginia, in the 40's & 50's, Dr. J.P. Sutherland HAD this sign on HIS wall: THE BEST PLACE TO FIND A HELPING HAND IS AT THE END OF YOUR OWN ARM...I thought about that a lot while receiving HUNDREDS of Shots from that HUMBLE Doctor, who HELPED many thousands, and was a devout Christian.

"The HEAVENS declare the Glory of God, and the firmament shows HIS HANDIWORK." (Psalms 19:1)...The Mighty HAND OF GOD Created it all! HALLELUJAH!..."I will HOPE continually, and yet praise Thee more and more." (Psalms 71:14)

Jesus said, "If any man HONOR Me, HIM I will HONOR," (John 12:26) and HIS brother James said, "HUMBLE yourself in the sight of the Lord and HE shall lift you up." (James 4:10)...HOPING to be among the Blessed Jesus referred to in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:6: "Blessed are they who HUNGER & Thirst after Righteousness."

'Today, if you HEAR my Voice, HARDEN not your HEART," Paul said, quoting Jesus in Hebrews 3:15...& Jesus also said in Luke 8:18: "Take HEED HOW you HEAR." Let us HOLD Fast & put on the HELMET of Salvation that we might be a HELPER, and not a HINDRANCE, as we strive for HOLINESS in 2012.

'G' Words...Day 7...26 Days of Alphabetical Resoluting......

LET'S GO FOR IT!!!!!

GOD is GREAT; GOD is GOOD...Let us thank Him for our food. For most of us, we cut our teeth on this little rhyming prayer. Most assuredly, GOD is GOOD & today is G Day, or GOOD Friday, in my 26 days of Alphabetical Resoluting. I'm resolving to be GOOD at faithfully praising GOD in 2012..."GREAT is our God, and GREATLY to be praised." (Psalm 48:1..And as Paul said in 1 Corinthians 10:31: "Whether therefore, you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the GLORY OF GOD...It's not for our GLORY, but the GLORY of our Creator...As James said in James 1:7: "Every GOOD GIFT, and every GREAT GIFT is from above, and comes down from the Father Of Lights."..GLORY to GOD in The Highest!

But, if you think about it, how can we be GOOD, without GIVING, and GIVING has it's reward, for our Lord proclaims, "GIVE and it will be GIVEN unto you, Full Measure, pressed down and running over, shall the Lord press into your bosom."...A GOOD friend of mine is often saying, "There are two kinds of people: GIVERS & Takers, but if we do as GOD wants us to, we'll be GIVERS & GETTERS, especially of the things that really matter.

Proverbs 4:7: "With all your GETTING, GET Understanding." When we understand that GOD wants us to GIVE GENEROUSLY, of not only our Possessions, but also our Time, Talent, Love, and whatever we've been GIVEN, we can feel GREAT only if we're using our GOD-GIVEN GIFTS...Jesus said in Mark 10:43: "They that would be GREAT among you, let them be your servant." (Thinking, however, that if we're doing anything for the sole purpose of being GREAT, we're 'missing the mark')...Let's be 'GOOD for GOODNESS sake', because it's not Santa that we need to be ready for, but the GOOD SHEPHERD is the ONE who's 'Coming to town', for the Sheep of His Pasture...& not the GOATS.

GLORIOUS GOD, I ask not for GOLD, or any other thing that will soon perish, but rather, that all the GUYS & GALS reading this will find GRACE in your sight, knowing Your Son has already conquered the GRAVE, and has ascended back to GLORY, but knowing that he GAVE us marching orders before He ascended: "GO ye into all the world and preach the GOSPEL to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved." (MARK 16:15-16)

Praying that we have all obeyed this command, and please GRANT, O GOD, that we will all come to realize that "GODLINESS with Contentment, is GREAT GAIN." 1 Timothy 6:6...For what would it profit any of us, if we were to GAIN the whole world...and lose our own soul...In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.

FORGING ahead with the FATHER in 2012....

GETTING READY TO FLY HOME...

In 2012, I want to FORGE ahead and be a FAITHFUL FOLLOWER of our FATHER God, as we look at 'F' Words in 26 Days of Alphabetical Resoluting...Consider what Paul told Timothy in 1 Timothy 2:11..."It is a FAITHFUL saying, and worthy of all acceptation: FOR if we be dead with Him, we shall also live with Him. (He knows our rising up & lying down, and is FAMILIAR with all our ways. Psalm 139:3)..That's our FRIEND!...Who offers us Loving FAVOR, which the Proverbs writer declares is 'Better than Silver & Gold'...Proverbs 22:1...Consider 1 Kings 8:56..."There has not FAILED one word of all His Good Promise, which He promised by the hand of Moses His servant."
A good acronym for F.A.I.T.H. is Following And Investing Time Heavenward. We won't regret time spent being a FAITHFUL FOLLOWER of our FATHER.

HELP ME, O GOD, THAT I MIGHT BE AN EXAMPLE & ENCOURAGER TO

IS SHARPER THAN A 2-EDGED SWORD, KNOWING THAT WE CANNOT ESCAPE
ETERNAL PUNISHMENT, IF WE NEGLECT SO GREAT SALVATION, BUT KNOWING

‎I Resolve to COMMIT my Actions to the Lord in 2012...The writer of Proverbs said in Proverbs 16:3: "COMMIT your Actions to the Lord, and your plans will Succeed....The highly successful football coach, Vince Lombardi, said, "The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their COMMITMENT to Excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor."...Just knowing that in the past I have started out strong, and been CHALLENGED to Succeed, but have faltered because of less than 100% COMMITMENT....Praying for the COURAGE to CONQUER bad habits & new in 2012, not only for myself, but 'All' of God's CROWNING CREATION...(All Men & Women, Boys & Girls, regardless of ethnic origin)....He Made us All!!! Experts say that the first 21 days are CRITICAL in 'Breaking' or 'Forming' a habit, in that the brain waves have to be CONDITIONED, or Re-CONDITIONED, as the CASE may be...Godspeed!

I've heard it said that when we BELIEVE we can do something, that we Receive the Power to do it, even if we don't have the talent, money, or 'any other' resource.
